Flamínio dos Reis, nasceu em Aradas (terra de oleiros), Aveiro, a 13 de Novembro de 1933. Seus pais, Manuel dos Reis e Pompília da Silva Carvalho.

Flamínio dos Reis, was born in Aradas (land of potters), Aveiro, November 13 of 1933. His parents were Manuel dos Reis and Pompília da Silva Carvalho.

Com 14 anos foi trabalhar para a serralharia da Fábrica Cerâmica das Quintans. Aos 18 anos começou a dar as primeiras pinceladas na “Fábrica do Jarreto” (João Gonçalves da Vitória Machado, Lda) e em 1952 entrou para as Faianças de S. Roque, Lda na cidade de Aveiro. Com o acompanhamento do Mestre João Lavado, evoluiu na técnica, na capacidade de trabalho e na arte da pintura em faiança, nos 12 anos que esteve na empresa.

With 14 years he was working in the locksmiths of Cerâmica das Quintans Factory. At 18 he began painting in the “Jarreto Factory” (João Gonçalves da Vitória Machado, Ltd) and in 1952 he went  to the Faianças de S. Roque, Ltd in the city of Aveiro. With the accompaniment of the Master João Lavado, he develped  the technique, the ability to work and the art of painting on earthenware, in the 12 years while he was in the company.

À noite, concluiu o 4º ano da Escola Industrial Fernando Caldeira, em Aveiro.

De 1966 a 1977 foi chefe de vendas da Faianças da Capôa, Lda, em Aradas, a que se seguiu o trabalhar por conta própria e de 1979 a 2005 como sócio da Argilart – Artesanato e Decorações, Lda.

At night, he concluded the 4th year of the Industrial School Fernando Caldeira, in Aveiro.

From 1966 to 1977 he was head of sales at Faianças da Capôa, Ltd, in Aradas, followed by working of his own and from 1979 to 2005 as a business associate of Argilart – Artesanato e Decorações, Ltd.

Actualmente e com uns jovens 80 anos, Flamínio dos Reis é um pilar essencial no funcionamento da Oficina da Formiga, com o desenvolvimento e pintura dos padrões tradicionais da faiança portuguesa nos diversos formatos de peças.

Today and with a young 80 years old, Flamínio dos Reis is an essential column in the functioning of the OF Ceramics, at the development and the painting of Portuguese earthenware traditional patterns in different shapes.
